Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been in use for the past 5,000 years. It is used extensively by one quarter of the world's population in Asia, and is rapidly growing in the West today.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is a comprehensive system of healthcare. It includes Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Tui na (Chinese medical massage) and dietary therapy. Qiqong and Tajiquan are also closely associated with TCM.

Chinese Medicine promotes the human body's natural healing mechanism to heal itself, and to maintain strength and ability to adapt to changing environ-mental stressors. It not only is effective for both chronic and acute conditions, but has traditionally been used as a form of preventative medicine.

Acupuncture

What Is Acupuncture and How Does It Work

The basic foundation for Acupuncture is the flow of Qi (pronounced "Chi"). Qi is the energy and is the vital substance produced by the organs. This energy flows all over the body through acupuncture channels called meridians, that connect all of our major organs. Energy moves the blood. Any illness arises when the cyclical flow of Qi in the meridians becomes unbalanced or is blocked.

Most people find acupuncture extremely relaxing!

Acupuncture is the inserting of hair-thin needles at specific points on the skin to promote the energy flow which enhances the healing and brings harmony to your body.

Studies have shown that acupuncture can help your body to release endorphins. Endorphins founded in our central nervous system are the natural painkillers and can calm and relax your body.

Acupuncture needles are solid and only hair-like thin. Insertions are usually painless. Most people find acupuncture extremely relaxing, and many fall asleep during the treatment.

usually painless hair-thin needles

In 1994, the FDA approved acupuncture needles as safe and effective medical devices. At WeIInessCare, we use only sterile, disposable needles. There is virtually no chance of infection or contagion.
